This pattern makes the larger one. To make a smaller one cut everything in half. Or to make a bigger one, double it.

I'm also thinking about trying to make a cork for them. Right now they are Chemistry Beakers, but with a cork they'll be potions from Zelda! =]

Mohawk Beanie

Hello! Today is the day! We're going to a Nashville Predators game!! I'm so excited!!

Because of the game, I made a mohawk beanie! Here's the pattern.

Beanie:
I hook:

Rnd 1. I started out with a magic circle with 6 sc.

Rnd 2. 2sc in each stitch (12 sc)
Rnd 3. 1 sc in first stitch, 2 sc in the next, repeat (18 sc)
Rnd 4. 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, repeat (24 sc)
Rnd 5. 1 sc in first 3 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat (30 sc)
Rnd 6. 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in the next 4 stitches (36 sc)
Rnd 7. 1 sc in first 5 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat (42 sc)
Rnd 8. 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in the next 6 stitches (48 sc)  -- Skip to rnd 15 in for child.
Rnd 9. 1 sc in the first 7 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat (54 sc)
Rnd 10. 2 sc in the first stitch, 1 sc in the next 8 stitches, repeat (60 sc)
Rnd 11. 1 sc in the first 9 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat (66 sc) -- Skip to rnd 15 if for woman
Rnd 12. 2 sc in the first stitch, 1 sc in the next 10 stitches, repeat (72 sc)
Rnd 13. 1 sc in the first 11 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat (78 sc)
Rnd 14. 2 sc in the first stitch, 1 sc in the next 12 stitches, repeat (84 sc) -- Men's size
Rnd 15. 1 sc in every stitch, repeat until hat is long enough to go down to the person's eyebrows. FO

Ear flaps:

Row 1: dc 15, turn
Row 2: dc 15, turn
Row 3: dc2tog, dc in next 11, dc2tog, turn
Row 4: dc2tog, dc in next 7, dc2tog, turn
Row 5: dc2tog, dc in next 3, dc2tog, turn
Row 6: dc2tog, dc in next, turn
Row 7: dc2tog, turn
Row 8: dc in only stitch. FO

(Make two)

As for placement of the ear flaps. I made the first one where I stopped crocheting the beanie. Then I folded it in half and made the second one across from it.
Braids:

Cut 6 three foot (or about) pieces of each color (12 altogether). Pull them through the bottom stitch of the ear flap. Pull them through so that they are an even length on either side. Make a knot at the top. (There will be 24 strands hanging down now). Separate into three groups of 8 and braid, then knot the bottom.

(Do on both sides)
Mohawk:

Chain as many as you need to stretch across the beanie. (down the middle)

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across, turn.
Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, FO

Fringe: Cut three pieces of each color (two if using three colors) about 6 inches long. Insert your hook into the middle crochet row, and pull the yarn through. Even out the yarn and tie both ends together. Keep doing this all the way down. After you have finished putting on the fringe, lay the mohawk on the beanie (I pinned it on with bobby pins) and sew it on with yarn and a yarn needle.

(I know this sounds confusing, so I'll try to post pictures soon. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask).

Apple Towel Topper

My sister's kitchen is themed with apples and roosters. And the other day she asked me if I could make her an apple towel topper. (To hang on her stove I assume, since that's where everyone puts em.)

I found the pattern here.

I did change the pattern a little bit.

I didn't have a bracelet, so I just made a magic circle, SC 16 into it, then SC 2 in every SC, sl st into 1st and FO.

The directions confused me a little. When it comes to sewing on the ring, it goes on the inside. That's what you pull the towel through. The stem is what holds it to the stove (or whatever you're hanging it on).

I really like how this came out, but I'm already working on my own design for a more apple shaped one. =] We'll see how that turns out.

Hockey time!!!

So I've started working on a new beanie. It'll be gold, blue and white. I'm planning on making the beanie and ear flaps gold, the braids white and blue. I'm also going to add a mohawk, that'll be white and blue also.

So what's the theme of this new beanie?

HOCKEY!!!

I'm a big hockey fan. My favorite teams are, of course, the Nashville Predators, and the Anaheim Ducks! (I'm planning on making a Ducks beanie too, soon).

I'm actually going to make two Predators beanies. The one mentioned above for me. =] And another one (minus the mohawk) for my mom. She wants one with a pompom on top.

So here's a photo of the beginning of my beanie:

Photos of the finished project will be posted soon! (hopefully)

Sunday Morning Crocheting...

I made another slouchy mesh beanie this morning. Its actually a darker red than shown, I think the flash messed it up. =]

I'm really addicted to these hats. I think they're super cute! And they're so easy to make!

This week is going to be a busy one, so I may not get to crochet too much. We have to go look at some houses. And I have to go look at some cars! I'm pretty excited about getting a new (to me) car!

We're getting ready to move closer to the city where I will be doing my externship. My last day of class is on April 3rd, and my first day of extern is on April 8th. So its getting pretty close!

Now I have to go study for a Liver exam tomorrow. And look over my resume for Career Readiness.
